To create a new Adapt It project, do the following:
To open the Project dialog do one of the following:
If Adapt It is not running, launch Adapt It. See Launching Adapt It
If Adapt It is already running select Start Working… from the File menu.
Enter Ctrl+W
If Adapt It displays the Document dialog, press the < Back button to access the Project dialog.
On the Project dialog, select <New Project>.
Click Next >.
Adapt It displays Languages dialog. This dialog appears only when you first create a project and the entries cannot be changed later. See the note below.
In the Source edit box, type the name of the source language to be adapted.
In the Target edit box, type the name of the desired target language.
If your language requires the use of a "backslash" (\) as an alphabetic character, click the checkbox that says "Recognize standard format markers only following new lines.
This action allows Adapt It to keep from mistaking the alphabetic character for a SFM marker.
Continue to click Next > through the Fonts dialog, Punctuation dialog, Case dialog, USFM dialog, and Filtering dialog, making any adjustments needed to set up the project. See Setting up a project for more information.
At the Document dialog, select <New Document>.
Click Finish.
The Input Text File For Adaptation dialog appears.
Navigate to the folder containing the desired source texts for the project.
Select the file name of the file containing the text to be adapted.
Press Open.
Adapt It opens the text in the main window, where it is ready for adaptation.
The Languages dialog only appears when you first set up a new project. Once the project has been created, there is no way to make the dialog reappear when working within that project. If you make a mistake:
Exit Adapt It,
Delete the project folder and its contents using Windows Explorer,
Re-launch Adapt It
Set up the project again with the correct language names.
In steps 4 and 5, you are free to type in names other than the names of the source and target languages if other names would have more meaning. Adapt It uses the names to create project folder names and has no way of checking what languages are actually being used in the project.
