Strips, piles, and cells

Adapt It works in its own unique structure that has both a horizontal and vertical dimension.

The horizontal dimension is required because the Adapt It works with more than one language in an interlinear arrangement. This dimension is represented by an arrangement called a Strip.

A pile is the vertical arrangement of a word or phrase including the source text and the target text. Each pile represents one word or phrase. Therefore, a strip is made up of a series of piles.

Within the pile only the target text can be edited within the main window. This area is called a cell. However, editing can take place only in the cell where the Phrase box is located.

 Note

Piles can contain more than just the source text and target text. You can displays two copies of the source and target texts. In this case, one line includes punctuation while the other omits the punctuation.

Glossing text and free translations can also be contained in the pile.
