Exporting is the process of sending data from one software application in a format usable by another software application. Adapt It has several exporting capabilities since Adapt It documents cannot be directly used by any other application. Therefore, Adapt It provides methods to export its files in a format readable by other programs such as Microsoft Word, WordPad, and Notepad. See Using exported texts and documents overview for a more complete explanation of how to use export files from Adapt It.
Adapt It supports two export formats:
Text format -- the plain text version of Adapt It files. In this version, Standard Format Markers (SFM) are present. Thus, this version can be used in WordPad or Notepad but also by other applications such as Paratext that use SFM. File names that have a filename extension of "txt" are text files. See Standard Format Text File
Rich text format -- the enhanced version of Adapt It files. This export process changes SFM to Microsoft Word style specifications. As a result, you can use Microsoft Word to present the text in a form that is suitable for limited publication. Rich text format files have a filename extension of "rtf." See Rich text format.
